We thought that free love meant love without any commitment. No strings attached. Harmless, right?
Well, look at our society today. So many people have taken this message to heart. People think you can have a relationship until you get tired of it, or it doesn't turn you on any more, then leave. Cool. This has left millions of kids without fathers, single moms, millions more adults with no family who care about them. When you have friends, you don't know if you'll be able to count on them, because they might not be around when you need them. We do not dig what our "free love" scene has brought us.
Real love is commitment. Standing by someone when things are groovy and when it's a bad scene. It's not a feeling. It's not something you do to satisfy your hormones. It's not a physical sensation.
When you are on the receiving end of real love, you feel secure, confident, and satisfied.
That's how we feel, now that we've figured out that God loves us. Even when
we were far from Him, indulging ourselves in everything God hates, and breaking all of His
commandments, He still loved us. He never gave up on us. He wanted us so bad, He sent His
only son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for our sins. As soon as our eyes were opened
and we realized we needed to dig Him, He was there waiting for us. This is extremely
groovy.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him might not perish, but have eternal life."
